After my son had taken part in a similar program a few years ago, several parents whose own sons had also participated mentioned to me that they wished there were more opportunities like this out there for their sons. When the opportunity came up to create a similar program through Coldwater, I knew it would be a great success. The first year it almost completely filled only 2 hours after word got out.
Youth need ways to learn how to be volunteers and opportunities to practice what they learn. They are the future of organizations like Coldwater that could not survive without volunteers. Plus, parents are anxious to have their youth take part in this type of program because it encourages them to help others.
After reading the responses from last year's follow-up survey, I was amazed at how much the youth enjoyed last year's Out4Others Missions Week program.Hopefully it will be a great week for the 7th and 8th graders. Look for updates on the blog later to see what they will be up to!
